Well, for a start, Claire Owen decided 14 years ago that she wanted to create an independent marketing recruitment company that cares about the people rather than the financial bottom line. We're matchmakers not brokers, guided by our hearts as much as our heads. With these values in mind, Stopgap was founded. Run by ex-marketers, it was the first specialist freelance recruitment agency in the UK.

It's now 2008 and those initial values haven't changed, although the name has! Due to branching out into permanent roles and executive search and interim, the decision was made to create a company 'umbrella,' The SG Group, under which all these great services would sit. So now we have Stopgap, RightStop and Fitzroy, plus the well-established Courtenay HR and The SG Group Australia.
